Young Stribling the son of vaudeville
performers was groomed to be a professional fighter from birth.
Turning pro at 15, Stribling amassed more knockouts then anybody
besides Archie Moore. Stribling beat several outstanding fighters in
his career, but had a tendency to freeze in big fights. In 1931 he
fought for the Heavyweight title and was thoroughly outclassed by Max
Schmeling. Stribling is considered by some to be among boxing's
greatest feinters, along with Jack Johnson and Benny Leonard.
Stribling died tragically at age 28 in a motorcycle crash.
