    CANASTOTA, NY - JANUARY 12, 2006 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum announced today the newest class of inductees to enter the Hall. Living inductees include junior flyweight champions Michael Carbajal (USA) and Humberto Gonzalez (Mexico), historian/publisher Hank Kaplan (USA), and promoter / manager Jarvis Astaire (UK).

    “We're extremely excited about the Class of 2006 and very much looking forward to honoring the seventeenth class of inductees,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “All living inductees are anticipated to attend and participate in 2006 Hall of Fame Weekend festivities.”

    The Seventeenth Annual Hall of Fame Weekend is scheduled for June 8-11th in Canastota, NY. Over 20 events, including a golf tournament, banquet, parade and autograph card show, are planned. A celebrity lineup of over 50 boxing greats of yesterday and today will attend this year's Induction Weekend. The highlight of the weekend will be the Official Enshrinement Ceremony on the Hall of Fame Museum Grounds in Canastota, New York on Sunday, June 11th to welcome the newest members.

    The Hall of Fame also released names of posthumous honorees: Three-time lightweight champion Edwin Rosario in the Modern Category; welterweight and middleweight champion Lou Brouillard, light heavyweight champion Jimmy Slattery and middleweight champion Teddy Yarosz in the Old-Timer Category; trainer Whitey Bimstein and promoter Rodolfo Sabbatini in the Non-Participant Category; publisher/editor Stanley Weston in the Observer Category; and Jem Carney in the Pioneer Category. Inductees were voted in by members of the Boxing Writers Association and a panel of international boxing historians.

CANASTOTA, NY – APRIL 21, 2006 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced today popular actor Mario Lopez has been named Grand Marshal of the 17th Annual Boxing Hall of Fame Parade of Champions scheduled for Sunday, June 11th at 1 p.m.

"The Hall of Fame is extremely excited about welcoming Mario Lopez to Canastota,'" said Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy. “He's been a boxing fan for many years and it will be a thrill to have him participate in the Weekend festivities with all of the legends of the game and the fans from around the world.”

Lopez began acting as a child and at the age of 11 was cast on the ABC sitcom AKA Pablo. The charismatic Lopez has also starred on such television programs as The Golden Girls, Kids Incorporated and USA Network's syndicated drama Pacific Blue. His film credits include Colors, Eastside and Outta Time. A talented host, he has served as host or co-host of ESPN 2's ESPN Hollywood, The Other Half, America's Most Talented Kid, Real People and Animal Planet's Pet Star. From 1989 to 1993 he endeared himself to millions of fans as A.C. Slater on the popular NBC sitcom Saved By The Bell. Lopez is currently seen on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful as Dr. Christian Ramirez.

“I am extremely honored to be named the Parade Grand Marshal. I am the absolute biggest boxing fan and I'm very much looking forward to the festivities, very much looking forward to meeting all the great, legendary fighters and very much looking forward to the wonderful people of Canastota,” said Lopez.

The Parade of Champions, set for Sunday, June 11th at 1:00 p.m., will pass through the streets of Canastota and lead to the grounds of the Hall of Fame Museum prior to the start of the Official Induction Ceremony honoring the new class of inductees.

Over 50 boxing stars, including Ken Norton, Aaron Pryor, Alexis Arguello, Angelo Dundee, Leon Spinks, Wilfredo Gomez, Erik Morales, John Conteh, Bob Foster, and Canastota's Carmen Basilio will be highlighted in the Parade of Champions.

"With the lineup of marching bands, boxing celebrities and Mario Lopez, this should be our biggest parade ever and an unforgettable day for all," said parade chairperson Charlene Barres.

The 2006 Parade of Champions is sponsored by Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppe.

The Hall of Fame Weekend will feature over 20 exciting events including the official induction ceremony honoring the Class of 2006. Living inductees to be honored include junior flyweight champions Michael Carbajal and Humberto Gonzalez, historian / publisher Hank Kaplan and manager / promoter Jarvis Astaire. Posthumous inductees will also be honored.
